AI dunk, dunk AI: what people mean and where to make it
"AI dunk" and "dunk AI" mean the same thing: a short AI video in which the person from a photo drives to the basket and dunks over a defender, the trend also called basketball dunk ai. Basketball Dunk AI makes that 6-second clip from one photo, or from two if you want to dunk on a friend. The generator above is preset to Dunk on Your Friend.
What do people mean by AI dunk?
Searches for "ai dunk" and "dunk ai" usually mean one of three things:
- The TikTok trend: AI clips of a person dunking, which spread from about 17 to 21 October 2026, with hashtags such as #AIDunkTemplate, #BasketballAITrend and #SlamDunkAI.
- A generator: a website where you add a photo and get a dunk video back. This is what Basketball Dunk AI is.
- A CapCut template: a template link shared on TikTok. There is no official TikTok filter for it.
The longer names, such as the basketball dunk AI trend, describe the same thing.
What does the AI dunk video look like?
A low, wide shot of the drive, a take-off with the defender a beat late, the slam from under the rim with a hang on the rim, a replay from the baseline, the ball through the net and a celebration. It runs 6 seconds, in 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9, with the trend sound already mixed in and no watermark. It is generated, not real footage. Many remakes online put famous faces in it; Basketball Dunk AI blocks photos of public figures and uses generic gyms.
Which template should I pick?
- Dunk on Your Friend (two photos): you dunk, the person from the second photo gets posterized.
- Poster Dunk (one photo): the same dunk over an invented defender.
- Open Gym Slam (one photo): a pickup-run two-hand slam.
Compare them on the templates page. A Standard 720p video costs 10 credits; see pricing. There is no free tier.
What are the limits?
The ball or hands can smear for a frame, the invented defender sometimes looks like the dunker (render again), and small or dark photos make faces drift. Adults only, with your own photo or permission. Independent tool. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the NBA, any basketball league or team, TikTok or CapCut.
